Well, this is my official post welcoming you to my new blog, Wanderlust Pig. I guess this should’ve been the first blog post I wrote, but it wasn’t. I think I was too excited, hit the ground running and started posting as soon as I created the website. No intro post necessary! Soo, backstory… grab a snack, settle in, I’ll try not to be too long winded. But seriously, get a snack. I’m thinking cookies and coffee.
Years and years ago, when I was about 21 or 22ish? I started writing a blog called Sugar Plum. I created recipes, took pictures and wrote about them, along with other musings. I probably overshared, which I tend to do. Trying to be better about that! Teehee. I would say I had a little bit of a following… and it was fun! I really enjoyed it, I made a teensy bit of money, I was sent gelato to sample, and life was good. I think after a while I started to get bored with it, and even got bored reading similar food blogs. Like, there’s only so many times I can write about blueberry pie. Zzzzzzz.
My interests started to sway. I fell in love with my job, getting to travel and explore new places. I gained new friends, developed new hobbies and found new things I wanted to pursue; suddenly my blog wasn’t my top priority anymore. Around the same time, my long term relationship ended, which was extremely hard, but needed to happen. I said, peace, moved to Raleigh, and found myself (Whoa, this is getting deep. I didn’t really mean for that to happen!). When I was living in Raleigh, I would post occasionally on my old blog, but rarely. My other creative outlet was posting food on an Instagram I created, called, Wanderlustpig. It featured food I tried on layovers, in airports, and things I made/baked at home. Yes, I’m the person that takes a picture of your food when we’re at a restaurant. DON’T YOU DARE TAKE A BITE YET!!
Flash forward to the present, and I’m back in the Springfield-Branson area (417 whoop!), getting back to my roots and starting a brand spankin’ new blog based off of my Insta. I hate to say this one will be more of a Lifestyle blog, because Martha Stewart, I am not. I do think I have some good tips and tricks to share, though! So in this space I will still be sharing recipes, both savory and sweet, but most likely won’t be creating them. I’d rather bake Christina Tosi’s crack pie and blog about the process. I’m also going to be sharing beauty and style tips (I love skincare and makeup!), travel posts, some health and fitness ideas (probably not too much of that, let’s be honest !), sketches & other musings. I’m hoping to get some guest bloggers on here, too. 🙂
So basically I’ll be all over the place, but it’ll all be good. I would love to hear from you all so please comment if you feel so inclined to. I want all of your tips and tricks, too!
Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you have a great Mardi Gras and Valentine’s Day! Laissez les bons temps rouler!
